This monochromatic card features the Starburst Technique with the Modern Medley DSP. It's kind of funny to me to have such muted colors with a technique that is associated with bright and bold. I also used the sentiment from Happy Congratulations stamp set "may happiness be your destination" which seems so perfect for this ship image.
Recipe:
Stamps: Open Sea, Happy Congratulations
Ink: Basic Black
Cardstock: Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Modern Medley DSP
Accessories: Smoky Slate Chevron Ribbon, Circle Punches
I used a Crystal Effects Canvas Technique on my second card with The Open Sea stamp set. I stamped a collage of the images on Whisper White cardstock. Then I poured some Crystal Effects over the entire piece and pulled it to the side with an old toothbrush. This creates a pretty brush stroke look to the images and it also adds a bit of shine.
Then I added a cut strip of Burlap Ribbon, with the edges frayed, and a few Antique Brads. The other layers on this card are distressed with our Distressing Tool, which makes quick work roughing up all the edges.

Two terrific cards! Love the sunburst pattern with the birds in flight -- so perfect for this set.

Is that not the perfect DSP for the starburst technique using Open Sea! Very creative idea. I'm going to give that CE canvas technique a try it looks awesome!
I am going to have to try this CE canvas technique I have seen you doing. It is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!
Beautiful cards! The starburst one with the bird paper is fabulous!
Fantastic cards! I love that sunburst one -- absolutely stunning!
Mary the sunburst technique is perfect with the stamp set and the DSP you chose. Love it. The colors and balance of the second card are very pretty.
I love the use of the black herringbone and the birds. A great contrast of sunburst!
Such a great use of that bird paper (I've been wondering what to do with it.) Fabulous as always, Mary!
I am so glad you figured out a way to use the bird paper for this stamp set! I tried but couldn't make it work - just too many birds. But yours is perfect. Love the starburst effect. And the second card is so unique. I never heard of the technique but love the look.
Oh that paper is SOOO cool as a starburst! And the canvas technique is perfect for this. It looks wonderful and I can imagine in person it is even more dramatic. Fun!!
WOW, Mary, love your projects!
I'm learning about new techniques on this hop and it's fun! The canvas technique and ribbon are great details.
My favorite is the Modern Medley card. Very fresh look and great design.
Love both of your cards. Beautiful.
Oh Mary, these are wonderful! Those birds with the herringbone, with the neural colors, and that sentiment! Just love it! And then the Crystal Effects technique, I bet it is stunning in real life. You insoire me :)
