Stamp Review Crew: Fabulous Florets Editions

http://stampreviewcrew.blogspot.com/2014/03/stamp-review-crew-fabulous-florets.html

This edition of the Stamp Review Crew features Fabulous Florets stamp set, which is, I think, one of the most beautiful floral sets in the catalog. With the winter weather we've had around here, I am more than ready to see some flowers!

I'm slowly getting more comfortable using MDS (My Digital Studio, the digital scrapbooking program from Stampin' Up!), but only by challenging myself to create projects and try new stamp sets with it. Fabulous Florets is one of the many, many stamp sets available in digital format and I've had fun playing with it in MDS.

I sorted through some of my pictures that need to be scrapped and found these cute snaps from last spring. My daughter has a friend who loves photography and is always looking for a willing subject; they had a lot of fun on this spring day. However, those two spend most of their time together laughing and smiling, no matter what they're doing!

One of my favorite things elements on this page is the title - do you recognize the word/script from the sentiment stamp from Fabulous Florets? I enlarged the sentiment image and then used the cropping tool to crop it down to the single word that fit perfectly for this page's title. So far, my digital scrapbooking has been fairly simple, but each time I learn a new trick, it makes me so happy! And cropping that sentiment into a title element was one of those moments!

Another quick project I did with Fabulous Florets in MDS was to make my custom sheet of flowers to create this Gift Box. For this project, instead of leaving the images black, I added color to the stamp images. I also did some fill coloring to make some of the flowers shaded. After I had colored and re-sized a flower, I copied and pasted it several times to randomly cover the page. Then I repeated the same steps with another flower image, rotating, coloring and re-sizing, before copying and pasting to cover the page. I used a Whisper White background to keep it clean and crisp.

I used this customized pattern paper to create a Gift Box using the Envelope Punch Board, inspiration  from pootles.co.uk. I punched and scored each side of a 6x6 piece at 2" and 4". Then I folded and tied the top with a piece of Rose Red Seam Binding. This Gift Box couldn't be more simple, one of my favorite things about it!

Oh, yeah! I want to make one of those boxes. The DSP you created is amazing :) And I love how you cropped the word "laugh" out of the sentiment stamp, very clever!

These really show how beautiful this set is in digital format and how easy they are to do! The layout is simple and sweet and the DSP is bright and bold!
