Dazzling Medallion

Here is a Christmas card I stamped using Stampin' Up!'s Medallion stamp. I stamped the Medallion image in Ruby Red Craft Ink and used Dazzling Diamonds Ultra Fine Glitter to give it LOTS of sparkle.

I wanted even more dazzle than I get from the Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder, which I love and use often. So I used Heat & Stick Powder. Heat & Stick Powder is a grainy, sticky embossing powder that becomes glue-like when heated. After stamping the Medallion image in Ruby Red Craft Ink, I covered it with Heat & Stick Powder, tapped off the excess and heated it with my Heat Gun until the dully grainy powder turned shiny. An important thing to remember with Heat & Stick Powder is to heat it JUST until it turns shiny, but not longer, as you may lose the stickiness. Once my 'glue' had turned shiny, I covered it with Dazzling Diamonds Ultra Fine Glitter and tapped off the excess. Then I heated it for just a little bit longer with my Heat Gun to 'set' the glue and glitter.

This technique creates a super glittery, wonderfully dazzling image. I hope you can see a little of it in this close-up shot. It just makes you want to touch the image. I love Dazzling Diamonds for many images, but especially like to use it on all my Christmas cards and images. There's something about the holidays that demands an extra bit of sparkle.

To finish my card, I stamped this Merry Christmas sentiment from Many Merry Messages in Chocolate Chip ink and then punched each end with my Modern Label Punch. This is adhered to a Ruby Red mat with Stampin' Dimensionals in the middle and Silver Brads from the Vintage Brads collection on the ends.
